FS 293/4 A combined 28 page double issue for the first half of the year which tells the story of the design of the 7th Armoured Division black-backed rat formation sign, looks at the role and badges of the First World War soldiers trained as experts with hand grenades known as bombers, relates the workings of the Derby Scheme and its New Zealand equivalent, uncovers some interesting Home Guard cloth badges, features unusual wartime Junior Training Corps titles sold at auction, details Scottish Medical units past and present and records numerous items of insignia authorised in 2023 by the Army Dress Committee and further items of interest.
FS 295 A bumper 100 page Special Issue for the second half of the year which looks at the aid given to the United Kingdom by the United States before and after America declared war on Germany. It covers the activities of a wide range of organisations such as the British War Relief Society, Bundles for Britain, the British American Ambulance Corps and the American Hospital in Britain, shows how weapons reached the Home Guard both officially and unofficially, records the American pilots who flew with the RAF Eagle Squadron and the Air Transport Auxiliary and the skilled craftsmen who joined the Civilian Technical Corps. After America declared war it records how the soldiers and airmen of the US Army took over large areas of London and the countryside to house and train its soldiers and build the large airfields from which heavy bombers took the war to Germany. Its 100 pages are illustrated with original documents and photographs with many uniforms and insignia worn by the soldiers and supporting services like the American Red Cross.
